Room redesigns and Introducing Mementos!

Only just realised that i should probably upload devlogs for this game on itch and gamejolt rather than just gamejolt. Sorry to leave you all stranded itch users.

Anyway, I wanted to make this devlog to catch you all up on the progress of this game, including rooms and mechanics.

First up, rooms.

Hallway

Before

Would've loved to show a before but me from 1 year ago decided to render the original image in 8k x 4k resolution. What a dumbass. Everyone point and laugh please.

After

made this one around 4 months ago? ive improved leaps and bounds since then.

Main Room

Before

this was probably like my second or third ever blender project

After

just made this bad boy. real proud of it.

And that's pretty much all I want to show for now in terms of environments. Now that you're caught up on that, let's move onto something a little more interesting.

Introducing, Mementos!

(youll have to forgive the 144p quality man blame youtube for not letting me upload in hd not me)

In Iudicium, you will have limited numbers of lives. However, there is a glaring reason why Scott Cawthon scrapped the idea of lives in the original FNAF - it was just too frustrating to play with.  So, I thought, why not make death fun

Mementos are items that you can receive post-death from Mother that completely alter some aspect of the gameplay for your next run. For example, the awfully modelled and textured hourglass memento showcased in the video will change the gameplay from task-based to time-based, as well as unlocking some other interesting interactions that I'm going to keep hidden for now.

The quality of the mementos (how much they change the gameplay)  you can pick from scale with your performance in your current run. For instance, if you die on night 1, the mementos you can choose will only have a minor impact, while dying on the final night can have you choosing mementos that can even overhaul the entire mementos system itself.

To finish this devlog, here's some quick renders of Mother since I don't think the video did her justice.

This is my first real devlog on itch, so please do let me know how I did! Did I ramble for too long, was it interesting to read, do you feel like verbally assaulting me after reading all this - no matter what your thoughts are, I want to hear them!

Obligatory link to the gamejolt page

Thank you for your continued support, and have a wonderful rest of your day!
